A journey around Claudio Monteverdi and the "monteverdisti" of his time, with particular attention to the influences he had on the composers active in Casalmaggiore, will be the concept ofSaturday 21 May(21.00) at the Sanctuary of the Fountain with"In heaven and on earth", music by Ignazio Donati, Claudio Monteverdi, Salomone Rossi, Francesco Vignali, performed by Cremona Antiqua, director Antonio Greco.

A journey between the sacred and the profane, demonstrating how the same styles were shared to enhance the primordial source of musical invention: the word. The program includes works by Salomone Rossi, the first Jewish musician to assume prominent positions in the West and a close collaborator of Monteverdi in Mantua; Ignazio Donati, chapel master in the Casalmaggiore area from 1621 to 1623 and hisFanfalughe, debtors of Monteverdi's "second practice"; theSacred RumblesheyMadrigalsby Francesco Vignali, the whimsical successor of Donati in Casalmaggiore; finally the compositions of the great master from Cremona, from the Petrarchan echoes of "Hor che'l ciel e la terra" up to the "Beatus Vir" of theMoral Forest.
