Â
Casalmaggiore was the homeland of two illustrious violinists who trod the European musical scene of the 18th century. The concert is a harmonic journey aimed at exploring the evolution of the production of Andrea Zani (1696-1757) and Carlo Zuccari (1704–1792) for violin and continuo. Preponderant figure of the evening will be Andrea Zani, with the execution of excerpts fromChamber sonatasof the first work, published in Mantua in 1727 and republished in Paris as a third work, from the fifth work sonatas, entitledHarmonic Thoughts, published in Vienna in 1735, and fromSix sonatassixth work, collection of full maturity published in Paris in 1744. Two compositions by Carlo Zuccari will be proposed: a sonata taken from the collection "Sonate a Violino e Basso ò Cembalo, opera prima", published in Milan around the 1740s, and a short adagio, extracted from the treatiseThe True Method of Playing an Adagio(The True Method of Playing an Adagio), published in London in 1762, during Zuccari's time as a member of the orchestra of the Italian Opera. Both famous virtuosos, after years of service in various European musical realities, returned to their homeland, to the land that had trained them in the art of music, ending their lives in Casalmaggiore.
